Clearing Browser Cache

PCs sometimes hold old files in local cache. While it speeds up display, it can result in displaying old pages.  A hard page reload may be enough.  To be sure, clear your local browser cache.

Clearing PC Browser Cache

We don’t need to clear everything. We only need to remove the old images and files that are being stored. You can also choose to delete cookies and other data (such as stored passwords and IDs), but we don’t require that for our purposes.

Google Chrome

  • Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner and select More Tools > Clear browsing data.
  • Alternatively, use the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Command+Shift+Delete (Mac).
  • Choose a time range, such as All time.
  • Check the boxes for Cookies and other site data, and Cached images and files.
  • Click Clear data.

Microsoft Edge

  • Click the three dots (...) > Settings > Privacy, search, and services.
  • Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
  • Select a time range and check the box for Cached images and files.
  • Click Clear now.

Mozilla Firefox

  • Click the three lines (menu icon) > Preferences > Privacy & Security.
  • Scroll to Cookies and Site Data and click Clear Data...
  • Ensure Cached Web Content is checked, and uncheck Cookies and Site Data if you want to keep your cookies.
  • Click Clear and then OK.

Safari

  • Open Safari, click Safari in the menu bar, then select Preferences.
  • Go to the Privacy tab.
  • Click Manage Website Data... to see all stored data.
  • Click Remove All to delete all data.

Clearing Phone Browser Cache


Clear iPhone browser cache (e.g., Chrome)

  • Open your browser app (like Chrome).
  • Tap the three-dot menu and go to Settings.
  • Select Privacy and security or Privacy.
  • Tap Clear browsing data.
  • Ensure "Cached images and files" is checked.
  • Choose a time range and tap Clear data.

Clear system cache (Android only)

  • Turn off your phone.
  • Boot into recovery mode. This typically involves holding a combination of buttons (like the volume up and power buttons) while turning the phone on, but the exact combination varies by device.
  • Use the volume buttons to navigate to Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the power button to select it.
  • Use the volume buttons to confirm if prompted, then press the power button again.
  • Once the process is complete, reboot the device.
