Rippert Memorial Rallye - 2026

06/28/2026

The Rippert rally in memory of our club’s founder was held June 28. Although called a rally, it was also an “ice cream run”. Another item that Hank enjoyed. Twenty-four members driving nine MGs joined Tony on a tour of Upper Bucks County, PA. The destination was Jimmies Ice Cream.

The Gobles graciously offered the use of their office for our starting point. Bill and Sandy also provided coffee and donuts for breakfast. Thank you.

Tony then provided a short briefing on our mission and directions. This rally was focused on enjoying the drive. No timing, no complicated directions with landmarks, and no recording along the way. We all started together to arrive at the same time.

The tour was great. Some twisty, turny back roads made just for an LBC. The day was warm but almost always under the canopy of the tree-lined roads, very enjoyable. The tour took us over two covered bridges; I always like to rev it up going through the bridge. We made a few stops to assemble the group. However, our caravan did get split up, but everyone knew the destination.

Once we gathered at Jimmies everyone had a chance to slake their appetite. Good chili dogs, tot dog, and of course very good ice cream favorites. Then it was time for the quiz.

Although it was not the typical rally, there was a questionnaire/review of our tour. How many stop signs did we stop at (none, I just slowed down), how many covered bridges did we cross… Answers were recorded and then scored. Most everyone got a few correct answers. The winner with 65 points, navigator Susie Gill, took home the Hornsby Trophy.

It was a great day. Thanks to Tony for the time and planning he put into the tour.
