On April 26, the Doerner’s hosted our annual Melick-Schwab memorial tech session. The weather was a little drippy, but warm enough, and there was a fine turnout. Dick and Sandy Suffredini were first to arrive in their MGA, followed by Paul and Evonna Phillips, Jay and Peggy Kaufman, Tom and Jaimee Rippert (MGB), new members Doug and Sharon MacWade (TR6), Dave and Erin Alderfer, Ron and Judy Tomasello, Lyn Hughes, Pat and Patty Cawthorne, Graham Gill (Morris), Brian Gumpert (MGB GT), Chuck and Linda Daniels, and Jeff Rose.
The garage was open but not heavily used. Graham used the lift to try to get a tranny crossmember bolt threaded, but was not successful. Chuck brought the A-arms for his new MGA project “Bob” and was able to install new bushings. Doug did an oil & filter change on his TR6 and added a muffler support to quiet a rattle. Pat and Jay looked over some CB radios, including one donated by Bob Tiley. I think Jay took them home for further testing. Dave brought his brake fluid moisture tester, and several of us took advantage of that measurement. Maybe we’ll get together for a fluid flush in the near future. There was a pile of parts donated by Bob T, that some T-series owners took advantage of. Lots of other car talk of course!
In addition to the garage activity, Nancy had her usual indoor crafting. This year the ladies decorated wine bottles using Mod-podge, tissue paper and twinkle lights. Still cleaning up glitter.
Thanks to all who brought food to share, there was quite a smorgasbord, and no one went hungry. After the meal, a few leftover O-wards were handed out to Jeff (tow chain), Patty (door pull, shift knob) and Suff (shock absorbing wine). Congratulations!
