Hank Rippert Rally - 2022

06/26/2022

It was a great day for a rally to honor one of our club’s founding members.  Hank Rippert passed away shortly after joining us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary Party.  Hank enjoyed everything MG... especially driving them.  He often impressed others to “Enjoy the Drive”.  And that was what this rally was all about - a 52-mile-long drive that took 2 hours and went through 7 of the 10 covered bridges in Bucks County.

We had nine MG’s and a Camry for this terrific ride.  There were five T’s which were driven by Tom & Jaimee Rippert, Adam & Eva Ilnicki, Jay Kaufman, Tony Rizzello, and Jim & Diane Sanders.  The three A’s were driven by Dick & Sandy Suffredini, Graham & Susie Gill, and Pat & Patty Cawthorne.  The BGT in our group was driven by Jeff & Robin Rose.  The Camry (MG wanna-be) was driven by Bill & Evelyn Webb.

The rally began at 2:00 pm at the Tinicum State Park and soon entered the first covered bridge, Uhlerstown Hill, which is a rarely traveled bridge because of its remoteness.  After going through this covered bridge we went up Uhlerstown mountain on a one-way, one-lane road that hugged the side of the mountain — great views of the countryside!  After which, we traveled many bucolic country roads that offered rolling hills, horse farms, country estates, and of course more covered bridges.  The rally ended at the Washington Crossing State Park.  What a fantastic drive.  Hank would have loved it!  (And we know that somehow, he was along for the ride!)

(PS...  If you would like to run the route yourself, we will soon be posting past rally routes in the Members Section!)
