The DVC 2014 Hornsby Rallye was held on Saturday, September 27th with 10 cars participating. We started from the Turkey Hill in the Bucks County village of Harrow under the sunniest sky that we could provide. The first car was off at 1:01 in the afternoon and the last car at 1:30. Participants were treated to a variety of scenic roads through the woods of upper and central Bucks County, most of which were paved. The route ended at the Cawthornes for a late lunch and beverages. Most managed to avoid getting completely lost and completed the course within reasonable time. However a couple of dedicated enthusiasts had to be “rescued” by cellphone. Everyone made it to the picnic and there were no mechanical failures during the event. Other than getting lost a few times everyone seemed to have a great time.
The participants were Tom and Jaimee Rippert, Dick and Sandy Suffredini, Dave and Gloria Schwab, Donna Bristol, Warren and Nancy Doerner, Jim and Diane Sanders, Lisa Burke and Jason Becker, Garth and Susan Gill, Paul and Evonna Phillips and Ben and Cindy Nolan.
Congratulations to Tom and Jaimee Rippert who took home the Hornsby Trophy which is awarded to the 1st T series car. Honors also go to overall 1st place winners Warren and Nancy Doerner, 2nd place to Tom and Jaimee Rippert and 3rd place to Dave and Gloria Schwab.
Thanks to all for their participation. Special thanks to Tom and Jaimee for obtaining the engraved pewter plaque awards.
Hope to see everyone at next year’s rallye.
